THIS STORY STARTS IN NAIROBI, KENYA…
Nina Sagoo is a Chef & Caterer whose jovial and hard working nature has made her a success in her field. As a child she was often taught how to cook by her mom & grandmother in Kenya. From the age of 7, she was always in the kitchen whipping up a pound cake or new recipe from her mom’s collections. After obtaining a Bachelor's of Science at the University of North Texas, the kitchen captured her heart once again. Having never attended culinary school, Nina stumbled upon her passion while filling in for a prep cook position at Mi Cocina’s - Fort Worth. She, then, took her skills to Jon Bonnell's Waters - 7th street with the encouragement of one of her managers. After some time at Chef Bonnell’s restaurant she was offered a position with Stephan Pyle’s at Stampede 66. In Dallas, she trained with incredible chefs and learned an exponential amount of skills while entering the catering world with two successful companies. After a few years in Dallas, her hometown reeled her back in as she took over the executive management position at Donatella Trotti's, Nonna Tata, on Magnolia Ave. She has worked through numerous kitchens, perfecting and learning culinary trends, while studying the art of cooking & catering. After two years of simultaneously managing Nonna Tata and learning the trades of the culinary world, she decided to open her own company, Spiced Lavender. No matter how big her crowd, she prides herself in being able to cook with fresh ingredients, spices, & herbs for every single client. As of recently, Nina continues her research & recipes to provide ample options for her carnivore, pescatarian, vegan, & gluten free guests. Every guest should be accommodated no matter how finite one’s diet may be. Here at, Spiced Lavender Catering, you will find styles such as buffet, à la carte, live cooking, and anything you can cook up in your mind. where family counts…
“A true warrior, like tea, shows his strength in hot water.”
Kin to Chef Nina Sagoo, Robbie is the Manager & Beverage Specialist of Spiced Lavender Catering. Struck with a passion for cooking & organic beverage fusions, Robbie continues to be the specialist behind Spiced Lavender’s complimentary beverage bar. The flavor & creativity he infuses with each drink will leave you wondering how he made it. Robbie first took his interest in cooking when he was a young teen. Summer vacations in Kenya would often give Robbie the opportunity to work with his grandfather in the family’s mechanic shop. Being the youngin’ in the crowd, he would be asked to walk to the farmer’s market around the corner and pick up fresh ingredients to make lunch for the crew. From his grandfather to great uncle, he was taught great recipes that he has personally incorporated within this company’s menu. With his sensitive palette for unique flavors, Robbie’s signature beverage menu includes our house signature Tropical Hibiscus, Flavored Lemonades, & Floral Infused H2O. His beverage inspiration originally came from his cultural experiences back home with our heavy use of spices and sweet citrus. A few years later, a trip to the Caribbean introduced Robbie to a popular juice named Sorrel where he infused his own spices and flavors with the native drink. After years of experimenting with multiple flavors, fruits, and natural sugars, he naturally created his own signature. Spiced Lavender Catering’s beverage company, Purple Hibiscus, was born and from there Robbie began to specialize in his organic and unique teas & juices. He now sells his famous Tropical Hibiscus Tea all over Dallas - Fort Worth & continues to formulate various mixtures of juices that stay low in sugar yet sweet to the taste!
